What it measures
Tackles the player actually completed — dispossessing an opponent — as opposed to every attempt. The catalogue carries both; this is the one worth scoring.
How the mainstream game treats it
Successful tackles contribute to the bonus points system. Tackles are not scored as points in their own right.
How to score it in your league
Per action works here, unlike most defensive stats, because the volume is modest — even a combative midfielder rarely exceeds five or six in a match.
A sensible starting value
1 point per tackle won is a strong, legible rule and one of the most popular single changes people make to a custom league. 2 makes defensive midfielders premium assets.
Watch out for
Score tackles won, not tackles attempted. Paying for attempts rewards diving in, and the players who attempt the most tackles are frequently the ones who complete the fewest.
