What it measures
The player regained possession — an interception that is not credited as one, a loose ball won, a tackle that breaks down an attack. It is high-volume: a busy midfielder can post eight or nine in a match.
How the mainstream game treats it
Not scored directly. It contributes to the bonus points system (as a per-3 counter) and counts toward defensive contribution.
How to score it in your league
Almost never as a plain per-action rule — the volume is too high. Use per N (a point per three or four) or, better, fold it into a milestone alongside tackles, interceptions, clearances and blocks.
A sensible starting value
If you must score it alone, 1 point per 4 recoveries keeps it meaningful without letting a holding midfielder out-score a striker every week.
Watch out for
Scoring recoveries per action is the single fastest way to break a custom league. At roughly 1 point per recovery, deep midfielders become the only position worth buying.
